There are many auctions happening all over the country and our favorite one, the Mecum Muscle Car Auction, is coming up soon.
New on the WebsiteOur featured muscle car of the week page is one of the most visited pages on the site. If you haven't checked it out already, this is where we post a different muscle car for sale every week from one of our recommended resources. The featured car matches one of the buyer types revealed by taking the Which Muscle Car? quiz.We recently updated another favorite page, 300 Horsepower for $10,000. If your dream muscle car requirements include American muscle power and a bargain price, any of these overlooked muscle cars would be at home in your garage. Tip - Muscle Car RegistrationThis month's tip comes fresh off the press from SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association. This organization is one of a kind in protecting the rights of the auto hobbyist.SEMA has just created a special page that consolidates all of the classic and collector car registration information for every state in one place. If you've ever tried to do this, you know how confusing it can be to figure out which forms apply to your purchase. How long do you want to wait in line at the local motor vehicle administration office? Click HERE to bookmark this page for your records. Buying At A Muscle Car AuctionOh the winter doldrums...for most muscle car lovers, January through March is a sad time with no car shows, races or cruises. The most excitement you can hope for is watching the Barrett-Jackson muscle car auction for a few days, drooling over the shining beauties that roll across the auction block and selling at unbelievable prices.Do you think that you could never afford to buy a car at a muscle car auction? The good news is - you can. Not all of the muscle cars for sale at an auction are shown on the primetime broadcast programs. As we found out, there are literally HUNDREDS of reasonably priced cars available that are sold during the non-broadcast hours. These great cars are sold to regular guys who know what they want and know what their dream car is worth. It was an eye-opening experience for us when we went to our first Mecum Muscle Car Auction. While it looks like a huge car show, the reality is these cars are all for sale. This means you can treat the cars like you would any used car you were thinking of buying. You can get in them and under them. You can ask the seller to start it up. This takes some getting used to if you normally attend car shows where all the vehicles have little signs warning you not to get near their glossy paint jobs. There is usually an admission fee that will allow you to preview all of the cars available for sale at the auction. If you want to register to bid there is a fee for registering. The fee varies depending on the auction, starting from $100 to up to several hundred. When you register to bid, you are eligible to sit in reserved seating during the auction and examine the cars again as they cross the auction block. If you don't register to bid, you can still watch the action from the "cheap" seats. If you purchase a car at a muscle car auction, you will pay a buyers fee on top of the winning bid price. For example, if you purchased a car for $6500, at the upcoming Mecum Muscle Cars and More Auction, you would also pay a buyers premium of $500. A purchase over $10,000 would pay 6% of the purchase price. There are multiple services available to assist auction buyers. Muscle car insurance companies are usually on site at the auction, along with specialty auto transport companies. Great auctions where muscle cars for sale can be found are held all over the country throughout the late winter/early spring season. Here are just a few examples: Phoenix Classic & Exotic Car Auction, Jan 14-15 Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale, AZ Jan 17-23 Automobiles of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ Jan 20-21 Leake Car Show & Auction, OKC Fairgrounds, Feb 18-19 Branson Collector Car Auction, Branson MO, Apr 8-9 and our very favorite: Mecum Muscle Cars and More, Kissimmee, Jan 26-30 We'll be there again this year.
